🟡 (ANTI) AI ART LABORATORY


1- PROPOSAL

 In times of suffocating speed and immediacy, collective dissociation and widespread digital anxieties: creatives, brands, influencers and all kinds of digital actors increasingly appeal to the use of automation and the use of AI to create content, entertain, educate and sell all kinds of products, services and discourses.

 In the midst of this trend something happens that for many is already obvious and is exhausting our resources not only psychological but also physical. AI produces generic automated content, destroys almost every possibility of original art and puts natural and artificial ecosystems at risk, with consequences for the use of this technology and the infrastructure they require that affect both our mental and physical health. It aims to be one more tool in a system that threatens to annihilate the diversity, creativity, and freedom of individuals while aiming to strengthen instead the systematic monopolization of practically all activity, expression and human thought, within the cannibalistic machinery that is technocapitalism / technofeudalism to which we are addressing (if we are not already there). In the face of all this, we see, however, how the unrestricted use of AIs is sold to us as an idea of progress that we must embrace and get used to without questioning or opposing resistance and that all this is for a supposed greater good of society.

  In the laboratory of Anti-AI and Digital Art we are aware of this reality and from the field of digital art, free creativity and creative play: we will think, investigate and focus on visual and audiovisual creation as expressive means that do not need AI to thrive in their function and creative and communicative objectives. Throughout 6 meetings we will explore different processes, methods, styles and genres in order to fan the creative spark in us and collectively claim our interest in AI-free digital creativity.

 As a final project made together by the participants, the idea is to build a proposal to exhibit digitally either on a virtual platform or as a web gallery. The exhibition will serve as a record of the activities carried out during the meetings and will be published and archived on the website nikpepsi.art

 About the meetings: The meetings will be held during the months of October and November and the material seen in each one can be downloaded and freely accessible for workshop participants. We will coordinate one day and schedule a week with the registered participants for the convenience and time availability of the entire group.

MEETING II: Anti-Digital Art (or Digital Vanguardism) and Experimental Art on the Internet. Practice II.

MEETING III: Artificial Intelligence and Digital Art. Practice III.

MEETING IV: Studies of the Meme (with special guest). Practice IV.

MEETING V: Glitch Art & Lo-Res Art. Practice V.

MEETING VI: Free Topic. Final Project Development.

4- REQUIREMENTS AND REGISTRATION

 The requirements to participate are as follows:

1) Complete the registration form that appears in the following link with your contact information, time availability and chosen payment method. You will receive the acceptance of your registration data by message through Instagram and by the indicated email.

2) Complete the corresponding payment. Once the payment is completed, you will receive a message confirming your registration along with access to the first reading and viewing material prior to the first meeting.

About scholarships (limited places):

 For those interested in applying for the available scholarships, keep in mind that availability is limited and the criteria for the award of them will take into account the profile of the artist, background and country of residence as a reference of socioeconomic reality. To apply, simply complete the registration form mentioned above in the registration steps and select the scholarship option requested. The number of scholarships is limited and the selection criteria can finally be 100% random (because that's life sometimes lol). Those who receive the scholarships will be informed by email and to their Instagram account and to confirm their registration they must coordinate the payment to be able to start the laboratory.
